The Benefits of Going Solar for Every Industry

Solar energy is one of the fastest-growing alternative sources of energy in the world. It's also the most widely accessible source of renewable energy. On average, 170,000 terawatts of solar energy hits the earth continuously. This is enough to meet the daily global demand. Solar energy installations have only recently started to see the potential of using solar.

Solar energy has numerous benefits that span across different industries. Consequently, many manufacturing and processing plants run solar farms and large-scale solar power systems. Here are some benefits of going solar for every industries.

Steady power supply

The national grid is not always reliable. As a result, unplanned power cuts and rationing are relatively common. Unfortunately, industries take a big hit when the power goes out as production lines halt.

Solar power systems offer a steady supply of power. The system can serve as a supplement to the national grid and cover for power cuts and rations. As a result, production lines run efficiently.

Although solar often serves as an adjunct power source, some industries run off-grid and entirely rely on solar energy. The plants operate highly efficient solar units that harvest energy for large-scale use. In addition, the capacity of solar power systems is enormous. Therefore, no plant is too big to run on a solar power grid.

Save money

The start-up cost of installing solar power systems is not a secret. It's on the higher side. However, the lifetime costs are meagre since your power bills can drop to as low as zero.

Moreover, solar panels have a lifespan of around two decades. Therefore, if you run an off-grid system for your industry, you will enjoy 20 years of no power bills at the end of the month.

Large industries that operate solar farms can earn credits on their energy bills. This occurs when the energy generated from the solar system is more than the power consumption at the industry, and the excess is fed into the national grid.

Since solar power systems minimise downtime, a lot is also saved on opportunity costs.

Tax incentives and grants

Many states encourage the use of solar energy since it reduces the burden on the national grid. Therefore, tax incentives and grants are used to smoothen the transition into solar energy and make it a worthwhile investment for industries.

Property tax exemption

This tax break allows industries to exclude solar power systems from the overall property value for tax purposes. Nonetheless, there are some criteria to be met for industrial plants to enjoy the exemption.

Sales exemption tax

Some states offer sales tax cuts on purchasing a solar system to reduce the upfront cost of solar installations. The exemptions often cover the purchase of solar devices and components, storage, and installation costs.

Grants

The renewable energy sector has many investors. Grants aimed at expanding the sector are usually offered to industries to encourage and reward the transition to solar energy. In addition, government and non-governmental grants are available for enterprises to install solar panels and batteries and operate solar water systems.

Save the environment

Renewable energy sources provide energy without the emissions of greenhouse gases. As a result, there is no effect on the global climate. The use of solar energy as an alternative source of power in industries minimises the carbon footprint from industrial production. Going green has far-reaching effects on current and future climatic conditions.

Plant location

Solar energy allows industries to set up plants anywhere. The solar system can run borehole systems, feed the plant's power grid, and operate the heating systems creating an autonomous off-grid system. Meaning there is no longer a need to fight for land in urban areas due to access to the national grid.

To enjoy the benefits of solar power first-hand, you have to undertake solar installation Sydney. It's a worthwhile investment.
