Using Your Handheld for Business

Mobile phones have become huge in the world of business. Over the years they have evolved drastically, becoming more like a handheld computer than a simple method of communication.

Here, we’ll look at how mobile phones can be used to help businesses in their day to day operations.

Growing the business

One of the major benefits mobile phones have delivered for businesses, is their growth ability. Mobile-first technology has helped to make it much cheaper to expand, particularly when it comes to mobile payments. Giving customers the ability to pay via their mobile phones boosts sales and also allows for international expansion.

Managing machinery remotely

One of the more specific benefits handheld devices are delivered to businesses, is the ability to manage machinery remotely. Businesses which have operations situated in harsh, remote locations would especially benefit from a remote telemetry unit (RTU).

An RTU enables businesses to collect as well as share data from harsh environments and remote assets. This really simplifies the process and makes it much easier to manage machinery without actually needing to be onsite. This means a remote telemetry unit can improve security and safety within the workplace.

Faster, easier communication

On a more basic level, mobile phones have also helped to really boost communication within the workplace. Colleagues can collaborate much faster and clearer thanks to an array of collaboration apps on the market. Even when employees are out of the office, they can still keep in touch with colleagues in real-time no matter where they are.

This has made the office environment in particular, much more productive. Being able to keep up to date with projects and quickly see any potential issues that need to be addressed in real-time is a major benefit to businesses.

Data storage

Another benefit mobile phone have brought to the workplace, is enabling records and important information to be stored in one easy-to-find location. You can quickly find important contact numbers, key information regarding ongoing projects and see exactly what needs to be done all in one place.

As you can see, mobile phones have delivered a lot of benefits into the workplace. From boosting communication to enabling you to control and monitor your machinery from a remote location; the power of today’s smartphones is fantastic. So, if your business isn’t currently utilising mobile phones, now is definitely the time to start doing so.
