Overview of Interior Detailing Process

Unlike the typical cleaning that may happen when dealing with the exterior of your vehicle, interior cleaning requires a more delicate approach. The reason for this is that the inner part of the car is not made to withstand the elements and so care should be taken during cleaning. This process has multiple steps and in this article, we will be delving into the details when it comes to interior detailing

Vacuuming

The first process involves generally cleaning the inside of the vehicle. Even before vacuuming the car, any trash as well as any dirt that’s considerably large needs to be cleared from the vehicle. Thereafter the seats, the dashboard, the boot and any other visible surface is vacuumed.

It's worth noting that any liquid washing is avoided as much as possible. This is because water may damage the seats especially if the primary material used in the coating is leather. There may also be a few electronics such as the air conditioner that should not come into contact with water.

Steam Cleaning

Since no liquid detergent is used, it may be difficult to get all the dirt out of the interior of the car. Steam cleaning combined with a brush may be used in this instance to get out as much dirt as possible. The car's mats are most likely to have accumulated dirt over time from the dirty shoes and the muddy boots and so may be removed from the car to be washed separately. The mats will be scrubbed thoroughly and vacuumed to get rid of as much dirt as possible.

Upholstery Cleaning

Once the general cleaning has been done, we get into cleaning the upholstery. For material made out of leather, a leather shampoo is sprayed onto the upholstery and a soft cloth is used to spread the shampoo all over. The process is repeated all over the entire material to sort of lather up all the dirt. Once done another cloth is then used to wipe off the grimy solution leaving the leather clean. Thereafter, leather conditioner is applied to the leather using a soft cloth. Once done, the leather is left to settle for 20 minutes. For upholstery primarily made of cloth, cloth – friendly products are used but the steps are the same.

Glass Cleaning

The glass of your vehicle is quite sensitive, so a window cleaner is used alongside a microfiber cloth to avoid leaving any scratch marks on the glass. The cleaner is also applied and wiped off in uniform strokes to avoid any minute scratches that may form as well.

Re – vacuuming

The final step in the process involves vacuuming the interior again to ensure all traces of dirt or grime are removed. Afterwards, a car deodorant may be sprayed to give the interior a fresh smell.

Bottom Line

If you’re looking to get the interior side of your car cleaned thoroughly then you should contact your local automobile detailer to get the job done effectively. An online search should help you find a detailing service quickly.
