Back to the Future fans, you can now build your own DeLorean

  • Written by: Tess Sanders Lazarus

Global giant, Eaglemoss Collections is  launching a magazine in Australia on the 19th of June that will be released weekly along with model parts to build a 1:8 scale die-cast, highly detailed replica model of Doc Brown’s Back to the Future movie time machine car, the DeLorean.

Ben Robinson is the Director of Eaglemoss’ Men’s Projects and spokesperson for the ‘Build the Back to the Future Delorean’ weekly magazine and replica. The magazine will be available on a weekly basis at all good newsagents across Australia – with model parts being released in each issue each week.   In addition, for those wishing to subscribe online and have the magazine delivered to their door, subscription services are also available. This ensures a magazine is never missed.  The finalised model will be over 50cm long and include highly detailed working and moving parts.

“We are so excited to be launching the opportunity for Back to the Future fans to build their very own replica DeLorean,” Mr Robinson said earlier today.

“The replica features metal body panels and a wealth of working lights and parts.

“It is packed with tiny details that everyone is going to love, including: cables, lights in the ceiling, the flux capacitor, time circuits, windup windows, a working brake pedal, wheels that tilt and much more.

“It will be a great weekly hobby for fans, to buy their magazine and piece their DeLorean together.

“The magazine will feature a history of the design of the DeLorean time machine, along with step-by-step instructions on how to put the pieces together from each issue.

“The opening pages of every magazine provide straightforward instructions that show you exactly how to construct the model.

“The parts are all named and numbered for easy reference, and the instructions are illustrated with easy-to-follow drawings.

“The construction process is very simple and all the parts simply click or screw together. The only tools needed are a set of screwdrivers and a pair of pliers.

“The end result is a fantastic replica that will stand around 50cms in length and feature amazing detail.

“We have put a lot of time and resources into this DeLorean project and we have involved the best people in the world including Joe Walser, who restored the original time machine for Universal Pictures – and according to Bob Gale, writer and producer of Back to the Future, knows more about the DeLorean than anyone else on earth!

“If you love Back to the Future and the DeLorean, then you’re going to love this replica.   It is the best piece of Back to the Future movie memorabilia I have ever seen.”

The replica ‘build your own’ DeLorean will be available for sale through the weekly ‘Build the Back to the Future Delorean’ magazine (model parts available in each weekly magazine) at all good newsagents from 19 June 2017 and through subscription online at www.build-the-delorean.com.au – for those wanting the magazines delivered to their door.
