Indoor air may be dirtier than you think

Is your workplace addressing cleaner air?

Providing a safe space for your employees has never been more important, with many more considerations now in place, due to the airborne transmission of COVID-19.

There are many pollutants that may negatively impact the air quality indoors. DAWE (The Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment) has said it is generally recognised that Australians spend 90% or more of their time indoors. They also acknowledge EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) and a report stating that indoor air quality may be as much as two to five times worse than outdoor air.

The quality of the indoor air may be in constant flux. Changing conditions such as doors opening, foot traffic, new carpet, new furniture or seasonal allergens entering the space may all impact the air quality levels over time.

So adding an air purifier with a HEPA filter to a room can positively affect the air that surrounds you every day, and in addition to viruses like COVID-19, it is good at removing other allergens and pollutants as well. The impact may be immediate.

Do you know what’s in your air?
Indoor pollutants range from particle pollutants such as dust mites, pet dander, bacteria and viruses to gas pollutants that may be emitted from chemicals, new furniture, paints or carpets.

Bacteria and Viruses
Both bacteria and viruses are germs that are commonly found in indoor air. One sneeze or cough can cause these particles to become airborne, increasing the likelihood of infecting anyone that comes into contact with them.

Harmful Gases and Chemicals
Particle boards, which are often found in furniture, carpet, paint and cleaning supplies, are a few sources that are likely to emit toxic chemicals called volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). Some may also contain ammonia and bleach, which according to the American Lung Association, can be harmful to your health as well.

Allergens
Inhalation of fine particulate matter such as pollen, dust mites and emissions from cigarettes and vehicle exhaust have been linked with heart disease, asthma, bronchitis and other health problems.

So how does a quality air purifier help?
TruSens Air Purifiers come equipped with UV-C light. This feature helps kill bacteria and viruses trapped in the air filter without generating harmful levels of ozone and the negative effects this may have on your health.

TruSens Air Purifiers include DuPont™ filtration that consists of a layer of carbon. Carbon filters remove certain gases and odours, creating an environment that is more pleasant to your nose and health. The DuPont™ HEPA filters included in all TruSens Air Purifiers are designed to trap fine particulate matter. After using a TruSens Air Purifier you will be amazed at the particles trapped by the filter that never made it into your lungs.

TruSens Air Purifiers have taken a scientific approach to air purification with the inclusion of the SensorPod air quality monitor in the TruSens Air Purifier models Z-2000, and the Z-3000. Testing shows that air quality measurements taken away from an air purifier provide a better representation of the air quality in a room.

The SensorPod can be placed in a space where you would like to measure the air quality, detecting pollutants away from the air purifier. The result is an air purifier that informs you with detailed air quality readings and adapts more effectively to the changing air quality conditions in the room.
