Lake Norman Area Students Win Legacy Leadership Academy Essay Contest

Huntersville, N.C. (June 12, 2015) – To honor members of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice, Legacy Leadership Academy a Lake Norman Private School sponsored a Memorial Day Essay, Poetry, and Art Contest.

This contest was open to students in the Lake Norman area and challenged them to express their thoughts about Memorial Day creatively in either a piece of art, a poem or an essay. The topic of this contest was “Memorial Day, through the eyes of…”

The contest winners from Cornelius Elementary were notified of the results while on a field trip to Washington D.C. where they later participated in the laying of the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Their preparation and research for this contest made their trip to Arlington National Cemetery more meaningful. They gained a greater understanding and appreciation for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America.

The following are the winners of the first annual Memorial Day Essay, Poetry and Art Contest sponsored by Legacy Leadership Academy. The winning entries for the Essay and Poetry contest can be found at www.legacylkn.org on the Academics Blog portion of the website.
