Greek Wines Finally Decoded

Tell Your Head from your Assyrtiko with New “Greek Wine on the Go!” Mobile App

Penngrove, CA – September 23, 2015—For the first time ever, fans of Greek wine have a comprehensive mobile resource to help decode this vibrant category. Now available for download, the ‘Greek Wine on the Go!’ mobile app provides users with varietal pronunciation by a native Greek speaker, easy to digest information on varieties and regions, and up-to-date Greek wine news.

Powered by Anthos Marketing, a leading specialist in Greek wine, ‘Greek Wine on the Go!’ was created with both the professional wine trade and wine consumers in mind.

“Americans are now discovering the ancient, diverse and delicious wines of Greece, but admittedly, the region’s indigenous varieties and growing regions can be difficult to pronounce and understand. There was a real need to bridge the translation gap. ‘Greek Wine on the Go!’ is that virtual one-on-one tutor,’ said Lisa Stavropoulos, Anthos Marketing president.

Greek wine exports to the U.S. increased 25% in volume between 2009-2014.  Winery owners and winemakers have upped their game in their vineyards and wineries over the years, and this drastic improvement in quality is paying off.

“Just glance over the wine lists at leading restaurants, such as Daniel Boulud, Gary Danko, NAHA, and you’ll notice sommeliers are paying serious attention to this modern set of Greek wines,” said Stavropoulos. “Despite the current economic crisis, there is no indication the interest or growth in the category will slow down anytime soon.”

A must-have resource for any wine lover, ‘Greek Wine on the Go!’ is free and available for download in both Apple iTunes and Google Play stores. Future releases are planned to highlight Greek producers and bottlings.
