St. Croix - US Virgin Islands –August 2015 - Hotel Caravelle, located on the waterfront of the historic town of Christiansted, announced plans for an extensive renovation. Stage 1 of the renovations which begins on September 1, includes a new roof and a complete overhaul of guest rooms, including new flooring, paint, furniture and linens. The hotel will be closed from September 1 thru October 31 during the intense renovation period. Hotel furnishings and other supplies no longer being utilized have been donated to local charities.

Rum Runners, the award-winning restaurant located at Hotel Caravelle, will also enjoy benefits of the Stage 1 renovations including new larger bathrooms and refurbished dining areas.

“The renovations will transform Hotel Caravelle inside and out,” said Sid Kalmans of Hotel Caravelle, “The transformation will bring a new energy and experience to both the hotel and to the town.”

The estimated $2 million renovation plan will occur in two stages. Stage 1 of the renovation, occurring Sept 1 – Oct 31, focuses on the roof and rooms. Stage Two of the renovation, which will begin in spring of 2016, will include the development of an event space overlooking the pool and ocean, and the redesign of the lobby area to create a more open layout.

Located on the waterfront in the historic town of Christiansted, Hotel Caravelle, known for its friendly staff, blends European elegance with Caribbean charm. The hotel’s 43 rooms offer a/c, satellite TV, phone, refrigerator, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and clock radio.
