Second Navajo Casino, Flowing Water, Celebrates Five Years

Navajo Casino at Tse Daa Kaan Near Shiprock Stimulates Local Economy
(Tse Daa Kaan, N.M. – October 9, 2015) – The Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise (Navajo Gaming), led by Derrick Watchman, CEO, is proud to celebrate the five-year anniversary of its second Navajo casino, Flowing Water Navajo Casino in the Tsé Daak’áán Chapter, near Shiprock, New Mexico. Throughout the past five years, many Navajos have been employed through Flowing Water, as well as receiving leadership, hospitality, gaming and management job training as they advance. Flowing Water Navajo Casino has also become a valuable training ground for Navajo Gaming’s additional properties that have successfully opened the past seven years.
“We are grateful for support from the Shiprock community, Tsé Daak’áán Chapter, The Navajo Nation President Begaye and his administration, Speaker LoRenzo Bates, Navajo Nation Council and its committees, Navajo Gaming Board and dedicated Flowing Water employees that have worked extremely hard the past five years,” stated Derrisk Watchma, CEO of Navajo Gaming.
Five-Year Celebration
Flowing Water Navajo Casino is celebrating this month with food and gaming specials for community members that have supported it the past five years. In addition, Flowing Water will host an anniversary celebration on Saturday, October 10 from 9 a.m. to midnight featuring live music, free kiosk game, and 5x the points.
Flowing Water Navajo Casino opened on October 13, 2010 near the Tse Das Kaan Chapter and approximately five minutes east of Shiprock, and features a Navajo Food Court and Navajo art and architecture. Additionally, Flowing Water is:
o The second Navajo Casino opened
o 95 percent Navajo employees
o Sponsoring and supporting numerous community and cultural events
o Providing hundreds of dollars to Navajo and community vendors such as local farmers, Navajo Beef ranchers, artisans and musicians
