The First This Old House New Construction Show House To Premier at Cloudland Station

1,900 Square-Foot Craftsman-style Cottage To Open for Tours This Fall

Chattanooga, Tenn. Sept. 8, 2015 - Visitors to Cloudland Station, a 450-acre community along the side of Lookout Mountain only 15 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, will have the chance to tour the first, new construction, decorated show house from This Old House Ventures, Inc. this fall.

“This Old House reflects the authentic lifestyle and culture we appreciate and celebrate so much at Cloudland Station. Their team was fantastic to work with and the final result has exceeded all of our expectations” says Chuck Lyle, COO of Firefly Communities, LLC, the developer.

Cloudland Station is a mountain community with custom and semi-custom plans for homes ranging in size from 800 - 2000 square feet getaway cottages to larger traditional neighborhood homes ranging from 2000 to 5000 square feet.

John Tatum, CEO of Firefly, designed the 1900-square-foot show home as a Garden Craftsman Cottage. The show house, which has just been completed, will open for preview tours sometime in September, with a Grand Opening event the weekend of Oct. 23-25. John is quick to credit the final product with the collaborative input of This Old House staff and Nowland Design of Chattanooga.

The show house boasts a wide wrap around porch with indigenous stone tapered columns, perfectly suited for front porch rocking and a full dining experience. The exterior elevations adorn a lovely combination of classic double hung windows intermingled with small square windows that were inspired by small rural outbuildings in the region. It gives the Craftsman style a nuance of a garden elements. To further charm up the cottage, the roof boasts a steep, mountainesque pitch covered in standing-seam metal.

With 450 lush mountain and valley acres, Cloudland Station offers a vast dreamscape of amenities hearkening back to a time of simpler pleasures, including The Homestead event facility comprised of an 1871 handcrafted, Amish barn with adjoining Italianate farmhouse and carriage house.
