ASPEN, Colo. (Sept. 1, 2015) — Melon Helmets, the German maker of award-winning protective and fashionable helmets, has joined forces with leading active lifestyle agency Backbone Media to manage its North American public relations. ZG Collective, the exclusive U.S. distributor for Melon, is actively seeking independent sales representatives and new retailers in the United States.

Melon produces over 30 fresh, colorful helmet styles for fashion-conscious urban cyclists, skateboarders and mountain bikers. Melon Helmets feature a polycarbonate outer shell combined with an EPS inner shell to deliver durable and extremely lightweight skull protection. Hygienic Coolmax padding and the proprietary Melon Airflow Channel System provide excellent ventilation and cooling.

“Melon has experienced tremendous growth and success in Europe, winning a prestigious Red Dot Product Design Award in 2014 and is adding new markets every year,” states Josh Fonner, chief operating officer of ZG Collective. “We believe the design and value that Melon delivers creates huge opportunity for the brand in the U.S.”

Melon Helmets has shown strong performance in European safety tests, including a win at the August 2015 helmet test by the German consumer association, Stiftung Warentest. The German Magazine aktivRadfahren recognized Melon Helmets in April 2015 with an Editors’ Recommendation, rating Melon the best among closed-shell urban helmets in its lab testing.

“As bike commuting continues to grow exponentially in the U.S., Melon offers helmets for riders who don’t want to look like they’re about to line up for a race,” states Backbone Media PR Director Ian Anderson. “Melon helmets are some of the most protective and stylish helmets available and we’re excited to introduce them to the domestic market.”

Melon Helmets will display its full collection at Interbike, September 16-18 in Las Vegas (booths 4096 and 4100). To inquire regarding retail accounts and independent sales opportunities, please email Josh Fonner at josh@zgcollective.com.
