Alchemy Bicycles Expands MTB Offerings
- Written by Pitch Engine
July 20, 2015 - DENVER, Colorado — Alchemy Bicycles has served as the benchmark for made-in-the-USA, handcrafted excellence among road, gravel and ‘cross cyclists since it opened its doors in 2008. The Denver-based group is excited to unveil the expansion of their offerings with the announcement of two key mountain bike-focused developments.
Oros Hardtail Released
Recipient of the “Best Carbon Layup” award at the 2015 North American Handmade Bicycle Show, the first models of the Oros hardtail are prepped to depart Alchemy’s Denver headquarters. The platform features race proven geometry with 29-inch wheels on sizes medium through extra large and 27.5-inch wheels on size small.
Designed around 100mm of travel up front, the Oros is tailor made for the modern cross-country racer. It can be fitted with a single ring, double ring, and even electronic drivetrains thanks to large removable cable and wire ports. Similar to Alchemy’s other stock frames, the Oros utilizes a press fit BB86 bottom bracket.
Identical to its road siblings, the Oros is meticulously crafted, painted and finished in Alchemy’s Denver production studio.
Dave Earle Joins Alchemy
On the heels of the Oros debut, Alchemy is delighted to announce the addition of Sotto Group’s Dave Earle to its design and engineering team. Currently the head of the Praxis Works bottom bracket and crankset company, Earle is perhaps best known as the author of the Switch suspension system and the celebrated Praxis 10-speed wide range cassette.
Joining the Alchemy team as an exclusive engineering, design and suspension consultant, Earle brings over two decades of bicycle engineering experience, a quality already being deliberately exercised in Denver.
“We’re making a big leap this fall by broadening our mountain offerings and the Oros is a significant indication of our commitment,” offers Alchemy’s Ryan Cannizarro. “Adding a brilliant engineer like Dave and the Sotto Group? As crazy as it sounds, that’s next level. We consider the Oros a breakthrough. But you haven’t seen anything yet.”
“I’m a fan of companies that really put their money where their mouth is,” states Earle. “They say they’re built in USA. And they really take that to heart. Not just prototyped. Not just designed — built. I cannot honestly think of any other brand that I’d rather help develop product. I tend to believe that all bikes are beautiful. But we’re in supermodel territory here.”
