Gabriel’s is a delicious adventure ~ Indeed, Gabriel’s has been Zagat rated as one of the best restaurants in the United States. Located fifteen miles north of Santa Fe, just south of Pojoaque and within minutes of Buffalo Thunder Resort, Gabriel’s is a culinary oasis back-dropped  by the exquisite scenery of the Sangre de Christo Mountains – one of the very best restaurant settings in the Santa Fe area.  This rambling and often very busy restaurant is convenient for pre-opera and post-high-road tours, and whether on the large flower-filled courtyard, spacious portal, or light-bathed sunrooms, the views are spectacular.  Events and special occasions enjoyed at Gabriel’s promise indelible memories.

With service that is polite, formal, and unfailing, Gabriel’s is an elegant representation of the Southwest-meets-old-Mexico:  Authentic, creative,  upscale, yet affordable.  Nothing is mediocre here.  The Rellenos De Santa Fe, stuffed with mesquite grilled chicken, jack cheese and cilantro, are the best you will ever have:   Large, fresh roasted poblano chiles, with the perfect balance of batter and sauces come with whole beans, fresh corn, and guacamole. Enchiladas Veduras, two soft corn tortillas rolled with pan roasted garnet yams and poblano chiles, topped with green tomatillo sauce, cheese, avocado slices, and the sweetest fresh corn, is a tempting example of their vegetarian offerings.  The favored Crab Enchiladas is a top-tier item that is unforgettable.   The ribs are one of the most popular items, tender and savory.  The Plato de Carnitas, a sizzling combination of pico de gallo and Jalisco shredded pork so tender that you don't have to chew it, is such a formidable portion size you will be taking some home for a delicious lunch the next day - at Gabriel’s, there’s no such thing as a “small plate.”  Meals are complimented with a signature margarita or any item from their well-considered full bar and wine list. For dessert, you’ll be besotted by the tres leches cake with chocolate frosting.  Served on a plate sprinkled liberally with cinnamon, it is one of the very best.  The Churros made at Gabriel’s are dressed in cinnamon-sugar and served with heavenly chocolate and caramel dipping sauces, nothing short of life-changing.

Located directly across from Than Povi Fine Art, featuring amazing work from 29 different Pueblos and hosting Indian dances regularly on the gorgeous gallery grounds, you could easily make multi-hour excursion to 4 Banana Lane.  Gabriel’s is open daily from 11:30 to 10:30.  Phone them at 505-455-7000, and enjoy more of their menu at www.gabrielsofsantafe.com.
