July 15, 2015 - Phoenix, AZ -- Many teachers have said that something as small as a new pencil, pen or backpack can make a huge difference to a student when it comes to getting ready for a new school year. The end of summer and beginning of a new school year is quickly approaching and the need to fill a backpack with school supplies for the upcoming year is almost upon us.

For many Phoenix area families, it can be a struggle to provide their children with even the most basic of back-to-school supplies, but the Checkered Flag Run Foundation (CFRF) is here to help. The CFRF is hosting the 3rd Annual Phoenix Tools 4 School event on July 25th.

During the event, 2,000 Phoenix area K-8 students will receive FREE school supplies to help them get a great start to the school year. Additionally, the students will receive a delicious breakfast, as well as a new haircut and/or hairstyle to go along with their free backpack of goodies.

The event will be held on Saturday, July 25th at Travis L. Williams American Legion Post #651624 East Broadway Road, Phoenix from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The Checkered Flag Run Foundation provides educational resources impacting underserved students. Founder of Checkered Flag Run Foundation, Alan “AP” Powell, the CFRF offers “access to quality educational opportunities ensures the investment of every student getting to cross that finish line!”

Plan to arrive early because the breakfast, school supplies and haircuts will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis to get their school year started off right!
