Also Coming Soon to ITV’s 4-Part Historical Drama Series ‘TUTANKHAMUN’

NEW YORK (April 20, 2016) – Actor WALEED ELGADI shares a dry desert welcome with Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks in director Tom Tykwer’s (Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run) new comedy-drama, A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING. The film makes its World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 20th and then open in theaters nationwide on April 22nd from Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions, and Saban Entertainment.

A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING follows the divorced, washed-up and desperate American salesman Alan Clay (Hanks), who travels to Saudi Arabia to secure an IT contract with the King for a hologram device for a massive new complex being built in the middle of the desert. Clay expects to meet with the wealthy leader, but instead repeatedly encounters various snooty subordinates like Sayed (Elgadi), a trusted member of the King’s entourage who is anything but welcoming to the outsider.

Based on the best-selling novel by Dave Eggers, the film also stars Sarita Choudhury, Alexander Black, Tom Skerrit, Ben Wishaw and Sidse Knudsen.

Elgadi was thrilled at the opportunity to work on the film, explaining “I had a strong feeling I would be involved with this project from the moment I first saw the script. I’m originally from The Sudan and Dave Eggers, the writer of the novel which the screenplay was developed from, also wrote a book about Sudan called ‘What Is The What’. I realized he was affiliated with the project from very early on. His name may have even been on the front of the script. It was a nice omen.”

Later this year, Elgadi heads to the small screen in the new 4-part historical drama series TUTANKHAMUM from UK-based ITV Studios. This period piece recounts Howard Carter’s discovery of the infamous tomb of the young King and stars Sam Niel and Max Irons.

Born in The Sudan to Sudanese-Egyptain parents, Elgadi emigrated to the UK at a young age. The highly-skilled actor, first gained attention as the lead villain in Dan Percival’s acclaimed BBC/HBO co-production ‘Dirty War’. His notable film credits also include roles in Oscar-winning director Suzanne Bier’s feature ‘Brodre’ and Chris Morris’s seminal ‘Four Lions’. He became a staple on UK television, appearing in dramas such as the joint ITV/BBC co-production 'The Whilstleblowers' and director Justin Chadwick’s 'Murder Prevention' for World Productions/Five. Elgadi has gained tons of American television fans from his recurring role in the popular FX Network show ‘Tyrant’ and his roles on NBC’s ‘Crossing Lines’ and in the National Geographic Channel’s TV movie ‘Killing Jesus’. Elgadi currently divides his time between Los Angeles and London.

Waleed Elgadi is represented in Los Angeles by TCA/Jed Root and Insight Management; and in London by Sainou Talent.
