Guy A. Fortt AKA the Fearless At 50 Guy, will partner with the Monroe Police Department and Special Olympics Connecticut as a participant in the sixth annual "Plunge at the Park," in Monroe on Saturday, April 2nd at Great Hollow Lake.

A Stamford resident and retired Greenwich firefighter, Fortt has appeared on Broadway, starred on the big screen and sung the National Anthem before crowds. "I am honored to be invited to participate in this year's Monroe "Plunge at the Park," said Fortt. The Special Olympics Connecticut has long captured a special place in my heart. Like so many others I have been inspired by the fearlessness of Special Olympic participants," said Fortt.  "I look forward to taking the plunge to help raise funds for a truly great organization," he added.

Fortt and other "fearless," participants are challenged by the Monroe Police Department and Special Olympics Connecticut, to run, jump, or dive into the frigid Great Hollow Lake on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 and make this year’s 6th Annual “Plunge at the Park” a great success!  All who are 8 years old and over are invited to take the plunge to support local Special Olympics athletes. Participants should wear a costume, team jersey, or bathing suit. Towels and water shoes are recommended. Event t-shirts will be provided. Those who are underage or do not wish to brave the icy waters of a small town lake can show their support by purchasing an "I'm a Chicken" t-shirt. A minimum donation of $50 per plunger and signed waiver form are required of each participant. (If a plunger is under 18, a parent or guardian’s signature is also required.) Spectators are welcome.

About Guy Fortt

Guy earned his M.S. in Sports Management from Columbia University. He is a sought after motivational speaker and provides youth sports mentorship through his company ForttSports,LLC

Fortt, an actor, was recently featured as the Fearless At 50 Guy in the AARP's National Advertising Campaign which aired leading up to the Superbowl.  

In addition to his stage and cinema work, Fortt has also found success in television having appeared on diverse shows including Law & Order SVU, Netflix's Jessica Jones, and Saturday Night Live. 

A seasoned theater presence who studied at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC, Fort has been featured on Broadway in Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple. For years he has brought his unique flavor to an impressive variety of roles in New York City and Connecticut, commanding the stage in productions of Charles H. Fullers A Soldiers Play, August Wilson's Seven Guitars, and Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire among others. 

In Hollywood, Guy holds his own working alongside the film industry’s best in such projects as Director David Frankel's The Devil Wears Prada starring Meryl Streep; director Sydney Pollack’s The Interpreter, and Don’t Nobody Love the Game More Than Me, directed by Martha Pinson and winner of the Toronto Online Film Award.
