Westport Café and Bar announces two new French co-owners leading front-of-house and kitchen operations

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 11, 2016) – Six years after opening Westport Café and Bar, chef owner Aaron Confessori welcomes the addition of two French co-owners to the Parisian-inspired bistro: Kevin Mouhot and Romain Monnoyeur. After negotiating special visas and buying out former co-owner Richard Wiles, Mouhot and Monnoyeur join Confessori at the helm of Westport Café, bringing their experience and expertise in French cuisine throughout France to Kansas City.

Romain Monnoyeur: Co-Owner and Executive Chef

Romain Monnoyeur’s background features more than nine years of French-style cuisine and restaurant industry experience. As Westport Café’s new executive chef, Monnoyeur will lead kitchen operations and bring classic French flavors to the forefront of the menu. Additionally, Monnoyeur intends to slowly incorporate his culinary point of view, with plans for new or enhanced menu items this spring. A small selection of Monnoyeur’s new creations debuted on Westport Café’s annual Valentine’s Day menu and provided a preview of future offerings.

Monnoyeur’s dishes debuted as follows:

Hors D'Oeuvres: House Cured Salmon (hummus, pickled onion, citrus)

Entrees: Sliced Duck Breast (orange, carrot, chestnut)

Dessert: Chai Poached Pear

Westport Cafe & Bar is a casual Parisian-inspired bistro in the dining district of Westport, combining the spirit and styles of both casual Europe and old New York City. Westport Café & Bar offers French-inspired cuisine, craft specialty cocktails, along with a boutique wine and beer list. Chef owner Aaron Confessori co-owners Kevin Mouhot and Romain Monnoyeur execute classic French-style dishes using simple, fresh ingredients and serve a full menu daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. An afternoon happy hour from 4 – 6 p.m. and late night menu from 10 p.m. – close feature a selection of half-priced menu items as well as specially priced beer and wine. Every Saturday and Sunday, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the restaurant offers one of Kansas City’s most popular brunches, rivaling any found in brunch-savvy New York City. All brunch plates are paired with a complimentary brunch cocktail, juice or coffee. Westport Café & Bar is available to host large groups and accepts reservations.
