How to Follow a Balanced Diet

  • Written by: News Feature Team

Long hours in the office, a hectic lifestyle and easy access to takeaways and convenience food can all have a negative effect if you’re trying to follow a balanced diet. However, following a balanced diet can be easier than you think. Making sure that you follow a healthy eating plan is essential for keeping your body in peak condition, plus it can even make you feel a lot lighter and less sluggish too. Following a balanced diet is easy – it means eating a variety of foods, in the right portions for you weight and size. So if you thought healthy eating was difficult, read on to find out how to get started on the road to reaching a healthier new you.

Exercise

Even if you aren’t a fan of the gym, there are a huge range of options and alternative options for getting fit and active. From downloading an app to boost your step count, to getting off the bus a stop earlier, you don’t have to be a gym bunny to make a few differences to your lifestyle. Getting fit is much more fun if you buddy-up with a friend or colleague – so why not consider cycling or walking to work or going for a jog in your lunch break? Websites such as Isa Tonic offer a great natural way to complement your exercise routine, find out more by visiting https://www.isatonic.com.au/. If you already work out regularly, shake up your tired-old routine with a new class. Exercise is a great way to burn off all your newfound energy as you follow a balanced diet.

Fruit and Vegetables

Did you know that fruit and vegetables should make up over a third of the food that we eat each day? Not to mention the benefits for your health, such as lower risks of contracting some cancers or heart disease. You should try to eat around five portions of fruit and vegetables each day, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get inventive in the kitchen. From soups to smoothies or grilled vegetables – it’s even easier to get your five a day if you’re creative. So if you normally have a sugar-laden snack or cereal for breakfast, why not swap this for fresh fruit salad with natural yoghurt?

Proteins and Fats

Believe it or not, not all fats are bad. In fact, good fats in moderation are an essential part of following a balanced diet. Be sure to enjoy around two portions of oily fish a week and make sure that you choose grass-fed or organic cuts of meat when available, ideally from a trusted organic meat butcher. Healthy fats are obtained through eating nuts, avocados and some vegetable oils – so make sure that you enjoy these alternatives sparingly. Quality and moderation are essential when it comes to incorporating fat and proteins into your diet.

So even if you aren’t easily motivated, or perhaps you find it hard to break your age-old routine, there’s no reason why not to make a few lifestyle changes and follow a balanced diet. Not only will these changes be of benefit to your body, but you might even gain that spring back in your step too!
