6 Things Lottery Winners Won’t Tell You

  • Written by: NewsCo

A lot of people dream of winning the lottery one day so they can live the high life. However, winning the lottery also has its own unwanted outcomes.

Even when it guarantees to solve a lot of your financial problems, it also happens to bring a couple of new ones. In fact, it’s said that winning the lottery doesn’t change overall happiness.

It’s clear that winning lottery also means you’ll have to face its unexpected effects. Here are things that lottery winners won’t tell you.

1. You’re On The Spotlight

Whether you like it or not, winning the lottery such as to play Powerball with Oz Lotteries will always put you on the spotlight. Winning and living the life you’ve always dreamt about with anonymity is impossible. Because once you win the lottery you’re subjected to put into the spotlight.

Stories of lottery winners are often used for transparency as a means of marketing future jackpots and proving big jackpots were being won. Winning a big jackpot from the lottery will surely mean publicity and it could become hard for you to remain under cover.

2. Money Doesn’t Last

Lottery winners has the tendency to spend their winnings as soon as they have it. It’s not often you come into such a large amount of money. That’s why it could be very easy to start spending it with the lack of long-term planning. This is especially true for those lottery winners who won a big jackpot. They might think big amount of money will last forever even with the relentless spending.

However, majority of lottery winners end up being broke after five or more years. Why? This is mainly due to the lack of consultation from a reliable financial team.

3. People Might Take Advantage Of You

This probably not a new thing but winning the lottery might attract people with ill intentions. People whose motive is to exploit you. It’s not unheard for lottery winners to have their friends and family to suddenly become close with them. Even when you think you’ve known someone for a very long time, they might still harbor some ill intentions towards you and your winnings. It’s going to be really hard to find people who you can trust or not. In fact, you’re even more vulnerable to become a victim of everyone who may want a piece of your winnings, making it hard for you to trust them anymore.

It’s not just the people around you that’s going to possibly take advantage or con you but also the people you’re going to meet in the future.

4. You Keep Playing The Lottery

It may seem strange but once you win the lottery, you can no longer stop playing it. Many lottery winners will keep in playing the lottery because they are convinced that they have a higher chance of winning it again and again. There’s nothing wrong with playing the lottery again after winning big, but if you’re spending too much on trying to win another jackpot, you could end up losing more than your winnings.

5. You May Become An Impulsive Buyer

The problem so many lotter winners have is impulse buying of a lot of stuffs including big new house, jewelry, fancy cars, etc. You see impulse buying is a kind of a sickness wherein you go out and buy anything that you like because you can afford it now, not because you need it.

These impulse buys can bite back lottery winners at some point and end up losing their all of their winnings for things that are really not that important.

6. You Might Still End Up Being Snubbed

If you think winning the lottery will earn you a place on the posh people’s table, then you may want to reconsider things. The truth is you’re more likely to be snubbed by other wealthy people even when you own millions. Many lottery winners have said that they’re still often looked down and not recognized by a lot of people despite of their wealth.

This kind of snubbing has something to do with the fact that some people with generational wealth or who run corporations believe they work hard for their wealth instead of easily obtaining it from the lottery. As a result, they may have the tendency to discriminate lottery winners as a people outside of their own.

Conclusion

A lot of things in your life will certainly change once you win the lottery. But it’s probably best to keep some things the same as they are once you win a big jackpot. Thinking about those things in advance can help you protect them when things start to get crazy after winning a big jackpot. It’s also smart to be make smart decisions once you win a big jackpot.
