3 Reasons to Invest in a Professionally Written Resume

  • Written by: NewsCo

When it comes to job seeking there are a variety of reasons why you may or may not secure an interview. Whether the reason is that the number of applicants far outweighs the job availability in your area or that the quality of applicants is of a particularly high standard at that particular time, the one thing that will be the difference between securing an interview and not, is your resume.

With an already overflowing inbox, recruiters and HR professionals are being inundated by applicant’s resumes on a daily basis. If there is a high level of applicants for each position, the reality is that the best resumes will be the ones that get the most attention. The resume that clearly states who the applicant is and what their skill set is pertaining to the advertised job, will be the one who is most likely to secure an interview.

It is imperative to remember that your resume is your first opportunity to make an impact. Whilst your skills and experience are a big part of securing employment, your resume is the first step in that process and if it doesn’t clearly make you stand out from the rest then you are fighting an uphill battle in the job market.

To ensure you are putting yourself forward in the best way possible it is highly recommended that you invest in a professionally written resume. Here are our three reasons why we believe you should invest in having your resume professionally written:

  1. Your best foot forward. Some people have great skills but this may not necessarily shine through in their own resume. Others, don’t have the writing skills needed to show a prospective employer just how in depth their whole skill set is. Having your resume professionally written ensures you and your skills are highlighted in the best way possible, and in a format that is clear and concise to meet the needs of the employer.

  1. Stand out from the crowd. The resume you created ten years ago is no longer going to stand out. You want your resume to be the one that is at the top of the list when it comes to shortlisting applicants. A resume that is professionally written will be polished and well laid out and will stand out amongst a sea of resumes. Experienced resume writers have current knowledge of the requirements of employers and recruiters and will be able to tailor your resume to meet those requirements.

  1. Boost your self-esteem. This may not seem like the most likely reason to have your resume professional written, but it is what will happen. Just like boosting your confidence when you buy a new clothes to wear to an interview, a professional written resume is your confidence boost for your skills and experience and gives you the confidence to apply for the jobs you really want.

Remember, you only have one chance to impress a prospective employer and that chance lies in your original application and resume. Don’t waste it.
