Your home is your castle, and you’ll no doubt work hard to keep it safe. If you are worried about home security, there are some easy ways you can keep your property safe without spending a lot of money. Here are some home security measures you should consider.

1. Have home security rules

Many break ins are opportunistic, and you can prevent them by simply having your family follow certain rules.

*  Don’t lend your key to anyone

*  Make sure you aren’t followed home

*  Don’t leave windows open unless you’re in the room

*  Make sure everything is locked when you leave the house

This can help prevent some of the most common burglaries that happen in residential areas.

2. Train your dog to guard the house

Your dog can be a deterrent for potential intruders, but you can make them an even more useful tool for home security by taking them for dog training in Sydney. Guard dog training doesn’t teach your dog to be vicious, rather, it teaches them to protect your home from intruders, barking to alert you when they approach the house. You can then call them off if it’s a welcome visitor.

Contrary to popular beliefs, most breeds of dog can be trained as guard dogs. They don’t have to be big or scary looking, just the presence of a dog can be enough to put off an intruder.

3. Install remote access cameras

You’ll no doubt have seen the many new remote access cameras available on the market. Video doorbells are especially popular nowadays, as you can answer your door from your smartphone, and they also pick up on movement around your home, so you can keep an eye on your home wherever you are. You can also find models with floodlights, so if anyone is intruding on your property, the bright lights can put them off, and you can even speak to them directly through a loudspeaker. The main advantage of these systems is that they tend to be cheaper and easier to install than full alarms or CCTV.

There are a number of things you can do to make your home more secure. From preventative measures to stop opportunistic thieves, to installing the right technology, and even using your dog to prevent intruders accessing your property, you have lots of options. Good home security can give you real peace of mind and help you stay safe from the heartbreak of vandalism or a burglary on your property.
