Catalyst Education, one of Australia’s leading providers of quality vocational education delivered via its three Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), has developed new short courses designed to re-think leadership through the lens of care and compassion, in collaboration with OpenLearning.

We have created two compassion-led leadership modules to support emerging leaders in the care services, specifically in the early childhood education and care or the aged care space where we operate, which will be hosted on the OpenLearning platform,” Catalyst Education CEO, Jo Asquith said.

While these courses are open to any individual, we believe they will resonate with those working in the early learning and aged care sectors. As an ageing nation, the future of our country is dependent on the leadership of highly qualified and highly competent aged care and early childhood educators – which is why they are exceptional candidates for these courses.

Using the OpenCreds Micro-credential Framework, this is our first foray into micro-credentialing, which are stand-alone credentials designed to provide value to students independently from their formal qualifications.”

Cherie Diaz, Managing Director, Australia at OpenLearning said: “We’re excited to be working with Catalyst Education to help inspire the next generation of leaders to re-think what leadership is and how they can become a more purposeful and compassionate leader. From the first meeting, it was clear that the team at Catalyst Education are passionate in developing courses that are research-backed and focused on developing the transferrable skills required to positively impact the working environment and broader community.”

Ms Asquith added, “We believe in a world where compassion thrives; where people support each other to connect, belong and to feel valued at every stage of their lives. Our services standout in the market because of our innovative sector-leading learning and design that puts the student at the centre of every teaching opportunity.”

The two courses launching in partnership with Open Learning are:

  • Leading by design. Covers the following concepts: re-thinking leadership, regenerative thinking, circular economy and sustainability for all.

  • Leading with compassion. Covers the following concepts: finding purpose, meaningful projects, completing a purposeful project, and interacting with peers through a social network of like-minded people.

They are delivered wholly online, contain 10 hours each of content and use a peer-to-peer learning model.

Catalyst Education specialises in educating Aged Care workers and Early Childhood Educators, because these are the people who can make a profound difference on quality of life in our communities. Catalyst Education delivers its highly regarded educational courses via three registered training organisation (RTO), Selmar Institute of Education, Practical Outcomes, Royal College of Healthcare. The institutions develop and deliver sector relevant, flexible and hands on education and training across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria taught by highly skilled and experienced sector professionals.
