Go Green This New Year

The start of a new year is always the start of something new, may it be a new perspective, a new view in life, a new outlook or even a short-lived new year’s resolution. One thing is for sure, the spirit to begin again is there and the goal to achieve it.

This year, it's the perfect time to reassess your goals as they relate to Mother Earth. Question yourself. Are you being part of change in your community? Are you eating healthier? Is an eco-friendly electric scooter part of your travel options? Are you sowing something you can reap? Be the change you want to see in this world.

Here are ways to Go Green this 2023:

Go and Reuse and Recycle

Be intentional. Start a project of segregating trash wherever you are, so that it is easier and more convenient for individuals or companies to recycle it and turn it back to something usable, resulting in less waste for the earth. Even at work, lead by example and segregate. Stores, factories and malls may even consider purchasing a vertical baler for managing their recyclables or install an automatic trash compactor to minimize waste.

Remember, one’s garbage doesn't just go 'away' - it just goes somewhere else. Let’s try to reduce the amount of trash we throw out.

Another way of avoiding more trash is by being open-minded on reusing items or even using secondhand items. Let’s try to break the culture of using single-use items. For example, in order for the reusable shopping bags to do any good, they have to be re-used so remember to bring with you these earth-friendly bags with you when you visit stores (keep them by the door or in your car) and reduce the number of plastic bags that you waste.

There is beauty in borrowing instead of buying to reduce waste. For example, borrowing books or going to the library instead of buying. You can also choose thrift-shopping and buy second-hand clothes that will save you money especially for growing kids that constantly outgrow their clothes. Save money while saving the earth. Great combo, alright!

Go and Grow

I’m sure you’ve heard it before: eat local. If you can, start planting and in no time, you’ll reap what you sow and your body will thank you for it. Try to  avoid processed packaged food, also because they take so much energy just to get to you. Better yet, lean towards food that comes from the earth like local organic food which mostly is free of pesticides too!

While at it, don’t just eat local, start thinking local! If you’re an entrepreneur, consider doing business locally because it will help your local economy bloom, provide jobs for the locals, give local options to your community, lessen your commute and reduce the carbon footprint we are making on Mother Earth.

Go Green, Go Electric Scooter

Electric scooters, which used to be a fascination for kids, are now a transportation reality for adults who can benefit greatly just by owning one. It is fast, convenient, affordable, portable and compact and environmentally friendly. Choosing an e-scooter reduces impacts on the environment because they minimize carbon footprint and have almost zero emissions when using it. The results of using an e-scooter testify to providing a better world for us because it is electric as compared to petrol-powered vehicles, which are much bulkier, heavier and take more energy to move thus emitting larger amounts of CO₂ and other contaminating substances. Again, we will always reap what we sow.

If you are convinced to get an electric scooter, visit Ride Hub Australia, Home of Electrified Beasts (E-Rides) which carries amazing top-of-the-line eco-friendly brands including Bird, Bolzzen, Ducati, E-Glide, Inokim, Kaabo, Mearth, Mercane, NanRobot, Segway and Xiaomi.

Go and Grow Ideas

Grow ideas, and this goes both ways. Teach and educate your community why it is so important to take care of Mother Earth and be open to ideas of someone else as well. Someone might teach us new things about the environment that we still didn’t know.

Remember, experience is the best teacher. Start leading in example and getting involved in ways to care for the earth. Kids follow by example, so start them young and this will serve as an experience for them to learn more.

When you are involved in making a change, you are influencing them to be involved as well.

Conclusion

Start small. Don’t get yourself overwhelmed. Small changes are still worthy changes. In fact, the small consistent steps are the ones that make a big impact that become a lifelong habit. Be realistic and start simple, so you can continue and build on it.

What Green New Year's Resolutions have you decided on?

What else can you add to this list? Go and question yourself!
