Actor/Creator MARK OVERHOLT Must Clarify Some Christianity Confusion in New Political Parody “LET THEM EAT CAKE”

PREMIERING ON YOUTUBE TODAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2015

LET THEM EAT CAKE follows an American Christian missionary (Overholt) in war-torn Iraq trying to relate to the experience of an Iraqi Christian (played by actor Ali Saam, best known for his role in ARGO) who fears for his life and the life of his family. The missionary ultimately uncovers that the Iraqi Christian is afraid to migrate to America due to the talking points he’s watched on cable news.

Taking a comedic tone to some important issues was exactly what Overholt set out to do, explaining “I wanted to bring attention to true religious persecution which, in my opinion, can get diluted due to the hysteria perpetuated by our media. Cable news and radio talk shows sells us the idea that when civil rights are given to people who should’ve had them in the first place, Christians in America somehow lose their rights.”

After getting started as a performer on the stages of Cleveland, Overholt made his way to Los Angeles and hasn’t looked back. He has built a solid reputation on the indie film scene as an actor, writer and producer, including the celebrated short film, ROUTE 51, based on his feature screenplay, HIGHWAY 51. He earned ‘Best Actor’ awards at both Method Fest and the Orange Coast Film Festival, and lent his acting skills to a series of projects by Neuro Films to help raise awareness for neurological disorders. Overholt is currently in-development on two feature films.
