Around Town: Native American Art Show

Exhibition Opening @ Lander Art Center, the Middle Fork, the Lander Library

Exhibition runs at all locations from November 6 - December 19

For the third year in a row, the Lander Art Center and local Native American artists are teaming up for a unique exhibit showcasing Native American art works. This is the only show of its kind, featuring Native artists in multiple disciplines in multiple locations “Around Town.” From traditional to contemporary work, this show gives Native American artists important visibility in Wyoming. New this year, Around Town is showcasing performance art, live painting and film. Enjoy spoken word, hip hop, music, poetry and paint at the Middle Fork and watch Live Painting at the Lander Art Center, all happening on November 6, starting at 6 pm. The Lander Library is hosting an evening of Native American Film, November 19th, in conjunction with this show. “More Than Frybread,” "Lived History: The Story of the Wind River Virtual Museum," and “Standing Tall & Rising to the Sky” by the Wind River UNITY Council will be screening in the Carnegie Room.

All events for Around Town are free to the public.

Al Hubbard is a Northern Arapaho contemporary artist featured in the show. “The Around Town exhibition is a great opportunity for Native artists to showcase their talents.” he says, “in a world where Native Art is not taken as a legitimate contemporary art form, this show brings together cutting edge artists who are redefining what Native Art is.”

Around Town runs November 6th  through December 19th at the Lander Art Center, the Middle Fork and the Library in Lander, WY.
