Women Who Code Launches Paris Network

The International 501(c)3 Dedicated To Helping Women Excel in Technology Expands Its Outreach Programs to the Country of France

San Francisco - October 26, 2015Women Who Code (WWCode), a non-profit organization whose mission is to connect women with technology careers while supporting them in the field, has announced the opening of its newest Network in Paris, France. This group, led by Emily Claire Reese, will host peer to peer training sessions, networking events, and hack nights, while working to empower female programmers across the country.

The first event for the WWCode Paris Network is scheduled to take place on November 2nd at OpenClassrooms, and is free for women of all technical backgrounds to attend, including beginners, as well as both French and English native speakers. Over 40 women have already shown interest and support for the creation of this group. Following the inaugural session, a second, holiday themed Hack is also planned for December 7th.

The Director of the Paris Network, Emily Claire Reese, noted the importance of bringing WWCode to France stating, “Paris has been a hub of human creativity and innovation for hundreds of years. Since Women Who Code celebrates the building of amazing creations and supports the women who are doing so, its mission goes hand in hand with the ambitious culture of this city.”

“We’re excited to have Emily taking on a leadership role in this Network,” said Alaina Percival, CEO and Board Chair of Women Who Code. “She understands the challenges that women face when trying to enter the technology industry, and I am confident that she will be able to nurture WWCode Paris to become a source of learning and interaction for women throughout France, and across the world.”

The Paris group is the first that Women Who Code has launched in France, and the ninth in Europe. It also represents the latest in a string of Network openings that have taken place over the past few months, including forays into the Twin Cities, Greenville, and Berlin. The organization’s goal is to eventually connect one million women with the technology industry through the creation of local groups around the globe that provide mentorship, training, and networking opportunities to the female populations in each area.
