Females on Fire: Top female chefs take over Jax Fish House’s kitchen Oct. 21 for special 5-course meal

Chefs will be joined by Erica Schulte, cicerone at Westport Ale House, and Kelsey Alt, sommelier at The Rieger Grill Hotel & Exchange

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 12, 2015)- Jax Fish House and Oyster Bar will host Females on Fire Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, a dinner with beer and wine pairings created by some of the most influential people in the Kansas City culinary scene. They are also all female. The dinner starts at 7 p.m. and will feature James Beard Award-winning Celina Tio, of JULIAN, Collection, and The Belfry; Jennifer Maloney, executive chef at Café Sebastienne; and Jax’s own Sheila Lucero, executive chef, Theresia Ota, chef de cuisine, and Kelly Conwell, pastry chef.

To add more power to the female fortitude, certified Cicerone Erica Schulte of Westport Ale House and certified Sommelier Kelsey Alt of The Rieger Grill Hotel & Exchange will pair beers and wines with each course.

The Females on Fire menu is as follows:

First Course

Razor Clams, sunchoke, prosciutto, black garlic, red mustard

Second Course

by Theresia Ota

Monkfish Liver, pate, squid ink challah, yuzu, pear, shiso

Third Course

by Celina Tio

Baby Octopus, charred with potatoes, celery, smoked paprika aioli, parsley salad

Fourth Course

by Jennifer Maloney

Wreckfish, jerk caramelized pineapple and mayacoba bean and linqica stew

Fifth Course

by Kelly Conwell

Braeburn Apple Tartlet, brown butter cheesecake, dulce de leche, hard cider sauce, sour cream sorbet 

For $125, the Females on Fire dinner includes five courses and a beer or wine pairing with each course. Due to limited seating, reservations are required and can be made by calling Jax Fish house at 816-437-7940.
