KANSAS CITY, MO. (Sept. 30, 2015) – Generator Studio announces the promotion of Paul J. Michell to the firm’s first Vice President of Architecture. Michell is a licensed architect with almost 20 years of experience and management, including two years with Generator Studio. Mr. Michell will oversee project staffing, advance internal standards and help lead project teams to continued success.

Mr. Michell originally studied engineering at Marquette University in Milwaukee, later entering the Architecture program at the University of Kansas for a greater creative emphasis in the technical topics in architecture, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture. He began his professional career at Yaeger Architecture in Kansas City, formerly Devine deFlon Yaeger, focusing on varied types and sizes of projects with an emphasis in religion, corporate and hospitality projects. In 2001, Mr. Michell joined the Wilson Estes Police Architects team as a Senior Project Manager, working in the management of virtually all projects.

The Associated Builders and Contractors, Central Florida Chapter awarded Mr. Michell the Excellence in Construction – Eagle Award for his design work on the Daytona Beach Police Headquarters in 2009. In addition, Michell received the Award of Excellence – New Construction over $10 Million award from the Associated General Contractors of Kansas in January 2010 for his work with the Pittsburg Police & Court Facility project.

Mr. Michell joined the Generator Studio team in 2013 as a Senior Architect, focusing on residential, commercial, hospitality and sports projects. Currently, Mr. Michell co-leads renovation projects at Amalie Arena and Scottrade Center, as well as luxury residential projects around Kansas City. Mr. Michell’s appointment to Vice President of Architecture is effective immediately.

About Generator StudioLocated in Kansas City, Missouri, Generator Studio is a full-service architecture firm with extensive experience in hospitality, retail, office, sports and luxury residential projects. The office is led by its two founders and partners Tom Proebstle and Mike Kress.  Collectively, Tom and Mike possess over four decades of experience with multiple project types.  Their experience and approach in achieving client business goals via collaborative design has resulted in a solid industry reputation and growth fueled by repeat client business and referrals.

Notable recent projects include the renovation to Corinth Square Shopping Center in Prairie Village, Kansas; a master plan for the redevelopment of historic downtown Dodge City, Kansas; Taco Republic in Kansas City, Kansas; the Sun Pavilion for The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art; and a 220,000 sq.ft. community recreation and ice center in St. Louis, Missouri.

As you review Generator’s work, you’ll note a wide range of projects that seem unique—and they are, as our clients have been.  The common thread, however, is the underlying process to collectively think through and determine the business goals and end-user goals for architecture to align with – and tying these two sometimes differing goals together via programming, design, financing and construction.  The result is authentic architecture unique to its place, and projects delivering the greatest value possible to clients.  The end result isn’t ultimately about architecture; rather, developments that are inherently economically and environmentally sustainable.  This is the business we practice.
