8 Sept – Rendez-Vous Cinema – ‘Me, Myself and Mum' (“Les Garçons et Guillaume, à table !") - A French movie by Guillaume Gallienne, 2013.
An autobiographic movie in which Guillaume Gallienne describes his complicated (and sometimes hilarious) relationships with his mother. This is the story of the self discovery of a young adult through unexpected situations.The film was premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and was released in France in 2013. In January 2014, the film was nominated for ten César Awards and won five, including awards for Best Film and Best First Feature Film.Guillaume Gallienne, member (Sociétaire) of the Comédie Française company since 2005, won two César Awards for ‘Me, Myself and Mum’, Cesar Award for Best Actor and Cesar Award for Best Writing (2014).

Marina Hery was born in 1967 in France. She studied graphic art in Paris and started her carrier in advertisement and publishing field. After 10 years spent in London she arrived in Dubai in 2013 accompanied by her family. The chance for her to renew with her very first passion: painting. She paints outside to draw famous or less famous locations of Dubaï.Her first exhibition A room with a view consists in oil on canvas and shows a series of landscapes and “living natures”. The artist tries to catch colors and lights of a perpetually moving city.

19 Oct - One Man Show - 'On va tout faire péter' by the French humorist Jean Michel Matteï
Jean Michel Mattei mixed his childhood memories in Corse and Savoy culture to offers us a memorable show. By observation of different ways to live in different French regions he transcribes what is most off the wall in ours behaviours. The show is a real laugh therapy and Jean Michel Mattei shares with his public his hapiness and personal experience. With his generosity the artist is a rising talent of the french show world. Between imitations, songs and fun, a show not to be missed.

21 Oct - Concert - Laïka Fatien
French jazz singer Laïka Fatien is born Paris with mixed origins (Hispano-Moroccan mother and Ivory Coast father). She studied at ARIAL, CIM and IACP (Jazz music schools). In 2008, she released her first CD 'Misery, A Tribute to Billie Holiday' featuring jazz stars Robert Glasper on piano, David EL-Malek on tenor sax, Daryl Hall on bass, and Gregory Hutchinson on drums. Her latest record : 'Come A Little Closer' comes two years after 'Nebula', the album produced by Me’Shell Ndegéocello.

27 Oct - Lecture - 'Climate is not an environmental matter - COP21 Challenges and Prospects' A Conference by François Gemenne, Executive Director 'Politics of Earth' and Associate Expert, Sciences Politiques Paris.
François Gemenne is an expert in migratory flows and environmental geopolitics. Teacher at Sciences Politics Paris and Brussels and the Free University of Brussels, he has also participated in numerous international research projects, including Devast project, one of the first to focus on social and political consequences of Fukushima disaster.On the occasion of his visit to Alliance Française Dubai, M. Gemenne will explain us why climate is a political issue. According to scientists forecasts and should international negotiations fail, temperatures will rise by 4 degrees in the coming decades. It means, first of all, that several parts of the world will become uninhabitable and that entire populations will be forced to move. The question is now: what are the policy options to minimize environmental degradation and manage future migrations.
