Sandy, Utah (September 1, 2015) - Reynolds Cycling has announced a partnership with Borealis Bikes, maker of premium carbon fat bikes and components. Reynolds will produce rims for a new complete wheelset, the Borealis ELITE, which will be found on premium spec'd models of Borealis complete bikes and sold separately. The rims are made in the USA in Reynolds’ Sandy, Utah facility, and then laced at Borealis headquarters making for a true, handcrafted American product.

"Our goal was to produce the finest 80mm fat bike rim in the world, and I believe we have done that.  The partnership with Reynolds was the obvious choice for Borealis and was a wonderful project from start to finish.  The joint development of the rim was simply as good as it gets and the decision to make a 100% made in the USA rim has been well received by our dealers and distributors around the world,” said Steve Kaczmarek, Borealis Bikes CEO.

A recent survey conducted by Reynolds revealed that increasing numbers of their customers own fat bikes, and of these, 40% intend to upgrade their wheels in the next 12 months. This indicates that there is growing demand for a premium fat bike wheelset and Borealis is answering this call by offering the new ELITE built by Reynolds as original equipment and for aftermarket sale to those people looking for an upgrade to their current bike.

"When establishing partnerships for Reynolds hand built product, we select brands that represent best-in-class, which Borealis certainly is with regards to high-end fat bikes made for racing the corduroy or smashing the cold-rolled singletrack," commented Dean Gestal, Reynolds Cycling CEO.
