Written and performed by the Nigerian-born artist, “Blvd of Sirens” serves up evocative lyrics delivered by EK, with moody instrumentals and a stirring chorus underscored by guest vocalist Chei Afrique. EK’s purposefully constructed lyrics explore the harsh realities of the drugs, thugs and broken dreams that embody life and death in urban America.
“Blvd of Sirens” marks the second video release off EK’s newest EP “Hands of Time,” which dropped on July 1st. The first video release, “Dress My Fears,” was called a “fiery political cut” for its provocative and introspective look at modern day discrimination, highlighting the deep-seated lack of societal evolution.
After migrating from Nigeria to the United States at the age of 12 years old, EK found it hard to adapt to a life with so many cultural differences. He quickly discovered the universal voice of music as a comfort and connection to the ever changing road that lay ahead of him. EK released his first mix tape, “Road 2 Stardom,” in 2008 and followed-up it up in 2011 with “Radio Friendly.” His compelling track, "Mean Ol’ Town," was featured in the critically-acclaimed feature film, "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" starring Jennifer Hudson. Today, EK has become a rising star on the Boston hip-hop scene, performing live and earning airplay from local stations.
