Joe’s Dining, a Santa Fe, NM, place to eat, is extra special for a variety of reasons, but the primary reason is because of its focus on making its dishes from sustainable local food. The owners of the company, Roland and Sheila started Joe’s in 2002 with the mission of offering downhome food in a nice friendly environment to locals and visitors who want great local food with great ingredients at a good price.

Joe’s Dining Uses Fresh Ingredients from Local Farmers

The company is the largest buyer of Santa Fe Farmers Market produce. The farmers at the Farmers Market will verify this fact and the company’s balance sheet bears out this fact. It spends in excess of $100,000 annually on foods produced by local farmers. Joe’s Dining spent 340% more on local farmer produce from 2008 to 2012, increasing spending from $30,000 to $100,000.

Nicely enough the company’s patron’s outspoken desire for healthy quality locally grown produce fits right in with the company’s own values and mission as a local diner offering that type food. Both positions fit right in together very well, so the company will keep this same food supply source going forward.

The company’s list of local produced foods include grass finished NM lamb, bison and Sweetgrass Co-op ground beef; also chicken livers, chile, eggs, NM grown organic flour, feta, house made mozzarella, fruits, veggies, sprouts, wines, beers and breads and homemade desserts.
