Park City, Utah (April 11, 2016) — POC, a leading manufacturer of ski and cycling helmets, apparel and accessories, has partnered with the Intense Factory Racing team for the 2016 downhill mountain bike season. The Swedish brand will provide helmets, eyewear and protective apparel for the Intense team.

The Intense team unveiled its 2016 line up in February and made its 2016 World Cup debut this weekend in Lourdes, France. The team includes Americans Luca Cometti and Nik Nestoroff and Australians Jack Moir and Dean Lucas.

“Intense’s heritage is world cup racing” says Intense founder, Jeff Steber. “We built our brand and developed our bikes on race courses throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s and it feels amazing to be back. Great riders and great collaboration with POC means we are well placed and the season ahead looks awesome.”

The riders will be racing in POC’s latest mountain bike protective gear including the Coron helmet and Resistance apparel. The Coron is POC’s newest full-faced DH helmet. It’s the first mountain bike helmet to incorporate M-FORGE, an advanced fiber material that’s lighter and outperforms carbon fiber, for the outer shell and a multi-impact EPP liner. The Resistance apparel is built on the idea of treating the apparel as a layer of protection. To do this, POC incorporated protective materials like ceramic-coated Super Fabric and VPD System, a new version of its impact absorbing material VPD, into the shorts, pants, gloves and jerseys.

“Working with Intense on the World Cup circuit, is immensely rewarding,” says Stefan Ytterborn, POC’s CEO and founder. “We have used the feedback provided by the team to fine-tune our downhill racing range to handle all the conditions in a World Cup season and support the team’s competitive goals.”

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup continues April 23, 24 in Cairns, Australia.
