SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO SET TO PREMIERE ONLINE MAY 28, 2015 ON SKOPE MAG

Boston, MA (May 22, 2015) – Rising Boston-based rap artist EK unleashes his new socially conscious single, “Dress My Fears,” delivering a provocative and introspective look at modern day prejudice. The video will premiere on the music-based website SkopeMag.com on May 28, 2015.

Written and performed by the Nigerian-born artist, “Dress My Fears” explores discrimination in contemporary society based on skin color, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, political views and more. The track combines expressive hip-hop verses delivered by EK, with a melodic chorus showcasing guest artist Kadahj Bennet known as Simile.

EK’s carefully crafted lyrics highlight the deep-seated lack of societal evolution. He injects references to progressive leaders Harriet Tubman, Dr. King and President Obama juxtaposed against those that have stifled advancement like Hitler, terrorists and skinheads.

When it came time to create the video for “Dress My Fears,” EK turned to director Micheal Jarrett to help him capture the significance, visually transforming it into a black and white statement.

EK is excited to share his new single and video with fans, explaining "I wrote ‘Dress My Fears’ because I noticed most of the evils of the world comes from the lack of not knowing. We judge what we don't know, we are afraid of what we are not familiar with. So we dress our fears. I hope my fans see that fear takes us out of our natural element. When you’re afraid you hide yourself, you put up walls and that pushes us more away from one another and our humanity.”

The single debuts as the first release from his upcoming EP “Hands of Time,” scheduled to drop on July 1, 2015.

After migrating from Nigeria to the United States at the age of 12 years old, EK found it hard to adapt to a life with so many cultural differences. He quickly discovered the universal voice of music as a comfort and connection to the ever changing road that lay ahead of him. EK released his first mix tape, “Road 2 Stardom,” in 2008 and followed-up it up in 2011 with “Radio Friendly.” His compelling track, "Mean Ol’ Town," was featured in the critically-acclaimed feature film, "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" starring Jennifer Hudson. Today, EK has become a rising star on the Boston hip-hop scene, performing live and earning airplay from local stations.
