KEEN Utility Expands Soft Toe Offerings for Spring ‘16

Portland, Oregon (January 22, 2016) — At KEEN Utility, comfort and protection are paramount. For 2016 the safety footwear brand is set to expand its collection of soft toe offerings, meeting a demand from light industrial and other working environments looking for comfortable and durable footwear without the need of a safety toe.
“We’ve been seeing an increase in demand from company executives, light manufacturing and other job applications where a work boot needs to remain durable and comfortable, but does not require any specific toe-protection,” said Mark Reilly, division director for KEEN Utility. “We will always continue to innovate and create really unique safety and protective styles, but this season, we also wanted to enhance our soft-toe offerings, and we did just that.”
From the American Built Mt. Vernon to the wedge-soled Glendale, Spring 2016 brings a soft toe silhouette to the work forefront.

One of the most popular American Built styles coming out of KEEN’s Portland factory, Spring ‘16 introduces a soft-toe silhouette. The boot features a waterproof nubuck leather upper with KEEN.Dry waterproof breathable membrane that allows vapor out but never in, providing superior breathable waterproof protection. The hiking-inspired silhouette features an oil-and slip-resistant KEEN.Grip rubber outsole meeting ASTM Mark II non-slip testing standards and EH standards. Built for comfort the Mt. Vernon also features KEEN’s Million Step Comfort Midsole, crafted from a direct-inject polyurethane construction that does not compact over time, delivering all-day comfort for the life of the boot.
The sporty and versatile styling of the Durham delivers extremely lightweight, breathable performance thanks to its durable and tightly woven nylon mesh upper with PU reinforced webbing for added support. Electro static dissipative, the Durham was crafted for indoor work environments and features a sporty fit and feel. The safety style features an oil- and slip-resistant non-marking rubber outsole that meets ASTM Mark II non-slip testing standards, delivering superior traction to slick indoor surfaces. Available in gray and black versions, the Durham brings a casual design to a work boot that’s all business.
The American Built Braddock is assembled with pride in Portland, Oregon using the finest materials from around the world. The outdoor-inspired safety style is now available in soft-toe mid and low silhouettes and delivers the comfort and fit of a hiker with the protection of a safety boot. A waterproof nubuck leather and fabric upper provides lightweight protection from the elements when paired with the KEEN.Dry waterproof breathable membrane and hydrophobic/hydrophilic 2-zone comfort technology lining for increased breathability. The Braddock Mid and Low Soft Toe styles also satisfy Mark II non-slip testing standards and ASTM EH standards. Exclusive to the American Built Collection, the Braddock also features KEEN’s Million Step Comfort Midsole, bringing durability and comfort to the job site.
The wedge has become an iconic work boot silhouette. For Spring ’16, KEEN Utility innovates the classic silhouette with an outdoor-inspired upper, introducing a soft-toe wedge boot distinctly KEEN and decidedly ready to work. The boot features a full-grain waterproof leather upper and KEEN.Dry breathable membrane, delivering breathable protection from wet environments.
