METdance Presents "Celebrating 20! Reaching Out" Continuing the contemporary dance company's "Celebrating 20!" season Friday, April 1

METdance wants everyone to be able to enjoy the beauty of performative dance - and in an effort to make dance more accessible to the surrounding areas of Houston, the company is presenting "Celebrating 20! Reaching Out." The performance is slated for 8 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress, 77433. Tickets are $25 to per person.

"Reaching Out" will feature various content from METdance's "Celebrating 20!" season, which celebrates two decades of the company's captivating performances, groundbreaking choreography and educational outreach. There will be preview excerpts of New York-based, long-time guest artist Kate Skarpetowska'sforthcoming premiere. Other featured dances include "Forever Fleeting" by METdance associate director and past resident choreographer Joe Celej and "Semi-detached" by METdance past resident choreographer Kiki Lucas, as well as a special homage to METdance's "Jazzman," the late Steven Boyd

The program will also include a collection of duets created by METdance artistic director Marlana Doyle, former company member Terrill Mitchell and Oliver Halkowich of Houston Ballet.  

"The diversity of the METdance repertoire will be showcased in this performance," artistic director Marlana Doyle said. "This is a great opportunity for Houstonians to experience dance up-close and full of energy, emotion, and excitement."

The "Celebrating 20!" season will continue with "Honored Guests" slated for 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8 at Wortham Center Cullen Theatre, 510 Texas Ave. in Houston, 77002. Tickets range from $15 to $45 per person.  

"MET too Youth Company Spring Concert" is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 and 8 p.m. on Friday, May 20 at Midtown Arts and Theatre Complex, 3414 La Branch St. in Houston, 77004. Tickets are $20. 

The season concludes with "Sizzling Summer Dance" on Friday, June 3 at Miller Outdoor Theatre, 6000 Hermann Park Dr. in Houston, 77030. The date will be announced in the future. 

Founded in 1995, METdance is a nonprofit organization that pursues a mission to educate and revitalize a passion for dance through world-class instruction and performance. The Houston-based company has traveled across the U.S. impressing critics and audiences alike while performing works by some of the most influential and talented choreographers in dance.  METdance also has a strong community outreach program, including its educational "Swing, Jive, Pop" performance. The company's home base, the METdance Center now serves as Houston's second-largest dancetraining space, offering comprehensive training in multiple disciplines to students of all experience levels, ages 3 and up.
