Associate Director of Marketing & CommunicationsThe College School, a preK through 8, independent school located in Webster Groves, Missouri, seeks an experienced Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to achieve internal and external communication goals within the marketplace and with the larger public. The Associate Director is responsible crafting and executing a marketing strategy in line with the school’s vision, values, and strategic plan, and producing appropriate communications to support these efforts. The Associate Director is a member of the Advancement Office, and works closely with administration, faculty, parents and the Board of Trustees.
The Associate Director of Marketing & Communications will advance the following priorities:
- Organize activities that support the admission, marketing, and development objectives of the school
- Ensure clear and transparent communication between & amongst all constituencies of the school
- Plan and execute strategies that enhance the visibility and public perception of the school
Specific responsibilities to advance these priorities include the following:
- Manage, contribute, and maintain all content for the school website
- Assist in distribution of email blasts as needed for Admissions, Development and Administrative offices
- Own and revise school marketing plan with strategic long-term and tactile short-term objectives
- Storytelling abilities executable in video, with strong knowledge or experience in message conceptualization, production, and distribution
- Produce advertisements for admissions and marketing purposes
- Develop and direct all integrated social media efforts
- Collaborate with Admissions on admissions-themed advertisements, marketing materials, events, tours, information sessions and relationships with external partners and other schools
- Collaborate with Development on development-related electronic and print educational brochures, solicitations, and stewardship pieces, including newsletters and the Annual Report
- Write, distribute, and follow up on press releases and cultivate relations with local media
- Responsible for the planning and execution of major school events, & support ancillary events as needed
- Attend and photograph on- and off-site events; maintain the archival photo library for all events
- Review the production of all school publications, including handbooks, event invitations and programs, invitations, promotional materials, etc., in print and digital medium
- Liaise with the Staff Communications Committee and its members on marketing/communication goals
- Manage school’s relationships with outside website vendor, photographers, and printing firms
- Conducts demographic and market research as needed
- Create a deeper level of branding for the school across all media and audiences
- Manage and plan communications/marketing budget including all advertising expenses
- Maintain common standards across school publications for branding reputation and integrity
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum five (5) years experience in marketing, communications or public relations
- Excellent writing and editorial skills, as well as an eye for publication design
- Experience managing a numerous social media outlets in a professional capacity
- Ability to create content as well as identify and generate creative story ideas
- Strong video production and story-boarding skills, video editing experience a plus
- Familiarity and experience with creative suite software, constituent relationship manager, and digital communication tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate widely with various constituencies throughout the school community
- Ability to drive grassroots marketing efforts in innovative, unconventional, and resourceful ways
- Skilled in traditional branding techniques
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Technical skills to support the above
