VERNON HILLS, Ill. (Dec. 30, 2015) — Expanding on its extensive backpack and luggage offerings, High Sierra introduces the Olmsted collection of lifestyle-focused backpacks and tote bags for Spring 2016. Remaining true to High Sierra’s commitment to quality at a value, the Olmsted collection offers trend-forward, thoughtfully designed bags at reasonable price points.

“Consumers who know High Sierra return to us when they’re in search of a reliable backpack, but we really wanted to bring something new to the table this year,” says Monica Diaz, product manager for High Sierra. “Drawing inspiration from High Sierra’s Chicagoland roots, the Olmsted collection brings the same reliability the brand is known for, but will really excite consumers with modern designs and patterns all paying homage to aspects of the Windy City.”

Named for Frederick Law Olmsted, the renowned landscape architect and designer whose influential works grace Chicago, High Sierra’s Olmsted collection centers around the idea of overall design cohesion—Olmsted was known for integrating the outdoors and the urban environment seamlessly.

The new Olmsted line features six new designs: three new backpacks, a duffel, a tote and a hip pack ranging in price from $50 to $150. The packs are named for areas, streets and landmarks in the Chicago region like the Avondale Daypack, named for the area Northwest of Chicago.  All of the designs feature a “Sweet Home Chicago” lining, drawing inspiration from the Chicago flag with a red, white and blue color scheme and the iconic Chicago star.

Other notable elements include vintage-inspired exterior labels, reminiscent of some of the original High Sierra branding, and six color options for each style. The Olmsted collection utilizes simple silhouettes paired with clever interior storage, including laptop sleeves, hidden pockets, mesh-lined accessory pockets and several compartments.

To preview High Sierra’s Olmsted collection, please visit booth #26041 at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, January 7-10 in Salt Lake City, and booth #3633 at the SIA Snow Show, January 28-31 in Denver. To book a media appointment, please contact Cory Lowe at cory.lowe@backbonemedia.net.
