It took you a while to get here, but now, you already know the value of having a good skincare routine. With the signs of ageing showing in your face and all the skin problems that you’re experiencing, you know that investing in skincare has become a must.

But the question is: What products do you really need for your skincare routine?

  1. Cleanser

Before anything else, you need a clean face to start and end your day, which is why you also need a good cleanser to get the job done. Like any other product, you need to find a cleanser that’s effective enough to get dirt off your pores but also sensitive enough that it doesn’t break down the protective barrier of your skin.

  1. Toner

After cleaning your face, you need to apply toner to make sure that your face is completely clean and free of any makeup and products that your cleanser didn’t remove. A good toner also gives you that extra boost of minerals and hydration to prepare your skin for the next steps ahead. Choosing a toner will again depend on your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, go for a hydrating toner. If you have oily skin, try to find a toner with witch hazel content to help tighten your pores.

  1. Serum

Once your skin is prepped, you can apply a serum to treat your skin issues and offer extra protection for your skin. A good serum should contain antioxidants that will help to stave off the signs of ageing, protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun and reduce the appearance of dark spots, wrinkles, and discolouration.

  1. Moisturiser

Of course, no skincare routine would be complete without a good moisturiser. This product will provide the hydration that your skin needs throughout the day and keep it soft and smooth even if you apply makeup. A good moisturiser will also offer the perfect base for your makeup to make sure that it stays on the entire day. Choosing your moisturiser will depend on your skin type, but it’s advisable that you go for a lighter moisturiser during the day, so it keeps your skin supple without feeling heavy under your makeup.

  1. Sunscreen

Finally, you can’t forget about what’s considered the most important step in your skincare routine—your sunscreen. According to experts, wearing sunscreen should be a must every single day and even if you’re spending time indoors because the UV rays of the sun can still penetrate through your windows and affect your skin. Wearing sunscreen doesn’t only make your skin safe from the sun, but it also ensures that you’re protecting yourself against skin cancer.

Building a good skincare routine is an investment that you should make for yourself. By choosing the right products, you are giving your skin the chance to age gracefully and ensure that you can enjoy that youthful glow for a long time.
