How to choose gear and equipment for a camping trip

  • Written by: Daily Bulletin

It's time to start preparing for that eagerly anticipated camping vacation. In addition to having the appropriate equipment, you should make sure that everything has been chosen with care. Equipment that can't withstand the abuse you'll give it will simply make things unpleasant. When choosing your gear, keep the following things in mind to make your “camping near me” a success.

  1. Camping tents

This should be given high consideration because it is one of the most crucial pieces of camping equipment. A tent should be sturdy enough to survive for a long time, offer sufficient ventilation and a sizable sleeping area without making its occupants feel claustrophobic. If you are backpacking, you should opt for a lightweight tent, and if you want to camp near your vehicle, choose a heavier tent.

  1. Backpacks

A decent backpack is essential for transporting all your camping gear. Overnight bags, day packs, and long-distance packs are the three basic types of backpacks. Smaller day packs are perfect for carrying a first aid kit, bottled water, maps, and other hiking necessities. Long-distance packs may hold everything you need for the entire journey, whereas overnight packs are larger and only hold the most essential clothing and equipment.

  1. Shoes and roller skates

When you go shopping for camping gear, get yourself a good set of hiking shoes or boots. Look for shoes that will keep your ankles stable, supported, and padded when you are walking on uneven terrain.

If you ever require roller skates, it's crucial to have ones that ensure your safety. We recommend that you always use certified safety roller skates.

  1. Sleeping bags

Additionally, there are varying weights of sleeping bags to meet various temperatures. You must decide where and when you will be camping in order to pick the best one for your requirements. The finest sleeping bags for temperatures of at least 35°F are summertime models. Winter sleeping bags are made specifically for 10°F or below, whereas three-season bags perform best for temperatures from 10°F to 35°F.

  1. First aid kit

One of the first items you should carry while assembling your camping supplies is a first aid kit. Include essentials like gauze, bandages, and painkillers in it, but also goods that are specialized for camping, like insect spray, aloe vera for burns, and moleskin for blisters.

  1. Fishing shirts and fishing kayak

If you will be going for kayak fishing, you need to choose the best wear and the fishing kayak. In a warm weather, go for long sleeved fishing shirts that reduce sun exposure. If it is a cooler weather, you may add some layers of protection.

On the other hand, when choosing a fishing kayak, decide whether to go for a sit-on-top kayak or sit-inside kayak. Sit-on-top are more stable as well as easy to get into and out. Anglers who will be in colder water, prefer to stay dry while paddling, and want a faster moving kayak may find sit-inside kayaks to be an excellent option.

Final word

It's not difficult to get backpacking and camping equipment as long as you do your homework. However, these are just a few of the things that you need for your camping. Others that you may need are an mmd splash prawn, mountain bikes, yeti stubby holder, Sea to Summit mosquito head net, and camping chairs. The choice will depend on the type of camping you will be doing. If you need high quality camping gears and equipment, visit us at https://www.bossoutdoor.com.au/.
