Celebrating International Surfing Day

  • Written by Daily Bulletin

On the 18th June Hawaiian Shirts Online donated a full day of profits ($182 AUD) to a charity operating in Sydney called Waves of Wellness Foundation to celebrate International Surfing Day.

Waves of Wellness Foundation (WOW) is known for their innovative methods of offering mental health support and surfing therapy throughout 4 states around Australia. Their hardworking team has helped around 2100 people through providing specialized surf therapy programs. They aim to support even more people in the upcoming years and to expand their organization to even more coastal locations. They use the funds they receive to achieve these goals.

By offering specialized mental health therapy, the foundation tries to erase the stigma around mental health problems and their treatment, aiming to create an atmosphere where people are not afraid of asking for help.

Thank you for letting us know of the opportunity and even better that we have your support. As a lean charity that puts everything into the community work we do – every dollar counts! The donation will go towards putting two people who are struggling with mental ill-health through a clinical-based surf therapy session to receive the help and tools they need to manage their mental health.” Justine Robertson (National Partnerships Manager)

International Surfing Day is an environmentally conscious sports-centered holiday that celebrates the sport of surfing, surfing lifestyle, and the sustainability of ocean resources. The event is celebrated every year on the third Saturday of June.

Hawaiian Shirts Online is dedicated to helping those in need. They decided to support a different organisation regularly by organising a fundraising event. Read more about this charitable initiative here: https://www.hawaiianshirtsonline.co.uk/blog/international-surfing-day
