Jono Petrohilos wins Fitness Educator of the Year

Co-founder of Fitness Education Online,
Jono Petrohilos, has been named Educator of the Year at the 2025 Australian Fitness Industry Awards, hosted by AUSactive.

The award recognises an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the education and development of fitness professionals. It highlights excellence in teaching, innovation, and leadership across the health and fitness sector.

Fitness Education Online, co-founded by Petrohilos, has grown into one of the largest providers of online education for personal trainers. The company offers the Certificate III and IV in Fitness along with more than 50 CPD courses, covering specialist areas such as women’s health, exercise programming, nutrition, behaviour change, and advanced training methods. Its mission is to make high-quality education accessible to trainers everywhere, enabling them to expand their knowledge, gain confidence, and better serve their clients.

Over the years, thousands of trainers have completed Fitness Education Online courses, and many have gone on to achieve significant career milestones. The business itself has earned a reputation for excellence, winning CEC Provider of the Year in 2024, being finalists in multiple national award categories, and celebrating several students who have been shortlisted for Student of the Year.

Petrohilos said he was humbled by the recognition.

“I’m incredibly honoured to receive this award. Education has always been at the heart of what I do, and my goal has always been to raise the standard of professional development in our industry. This award is not only recognition of my own journey but also of the incredible community of fitness professionals who continue to learn and grow with us.”

The AUSactive Awards are considered the pinnacle of recognition in the Australian fitness industry, celebrating excellence across 32 categories. Each year, they bring together leading educators, business owners, and innovators from around the country.

For Petrohilos, the award is a reflection of both personal passion and collective achievement.

“The fitness industry is constantly evolving. Trainers need practical, science-based education that gives them the tools to succeed with their clients. I’m proud that Fitness Education Online is playing a key role in that evolution and helping shape the future of fitness education.”

With this recognition, Petrohilos and Fitness Education Online continue to strengthen their position as leaders in professional development for fitness professionals, both in Australia and internationally.
