Mauritius is a small island country that is a republic and is located in the Indian Ocean. This country is one of the most developed African countries. 

The capital of Mauritius is Port Louis. What is interesting is that Mauritius was not inhabited until colonization by the Netherlands in 1638. Mauritius gained its independence in 1968 and then became a republic. 

6 languages are represented in this country and there are two official languages: French and English. 

The branches of the economy that are developed and growing are agriculture, industry, tourism, and fishing.

The climate is ideal for the development of tourism, it is tropical, where the winters are warm and dry while the summers are hot and humid. Winds also prevail on the island and sometimes it can be colder at times.

Mauritius was best known for the Dodo bird species which unfortunately became extinct during colonization by the Netherlands.

People are cordial and polite, and the best way of greeting is Bonjour and Namaste. However, this country is very conservative, and showing too much skin is prohibited, especially in places that are sacred to them. 

There are no public nudist beaches on the islands, so if you walk around town in a bikini, you won't get pleasant views. 

They are very proud of their cultural heritage and do not comment too harshly on food, people, or religion, they are very sensitive about it.

There are destinations that you should not miss to visit such as Tamarind Falls, Black River Gorges National Park, Botanical Garden, Grand Bassin, Quad riding, Sub Scooter Diving, Jeep Safari in Heritage Nature Reserve, Submarine Experience, and Helicopter tour.
