Emily and Nat Duffell:    Parents of young children that don’t sleep suffer health issues

Emily and Nat founded Sleepy Starz to provide sleep solutions, products and information to help young children, and their parents, achieve a better night’s sleep.  They became first time parents to their baby girl Amber in 2009 and Amber refused to sleep through the night. Emily and Nat dealt with this all through Amber’s baby and toddler years to the point where Emily developed post natal depression.   As things started to improve, they realised there had to be a better sleep solution and more specifically, a better toddler sleep-training clock. As a result, Emily and Nat developed and manufactured a revolutionary sleep clock to teach young children how to sleep and develop good long lasting sleep patterns.

“Parents of young children that don’t sleep, suffer from tiredness, health issues, depression, anxiety and all sorts of issues,” Ms Duffell said today.

“We were first time parents and as with many, we were thrown in the deep end.  Our Amber was a terrible sleeper and would only sleep for two hours at a time.

“Statistics show that parents can have a six-month sleep deficit in the first 24 months of a baby’s life. This really takes its toll.

“I actually developed post natal depression as a result.   Lack of sleep affects every part of your life and your experience of being a parent.    I even sought help, but nothing seemed to work.”

“I realised that there just had to be a better option out there because it was torturous.  We tried a few different sleep training clocks but they didn’t really achieve much,” Mr Duffell continued.

“So with all of our experience in dealing with sleep deprivation, trialing different things and experimenting with some of the sleep clocks on the market, which didn’t work, we decided to create our own sleep clock that did work.

“We knew other parents were desperate for a solution.   We spoke to other parents and realised there were many others going through exactly the same things as we did, with many only managing to get two-and-a-half hours of continuous sleep each night.

“We found a good designer and manufacturer and started work.

“The sleep clock we have developed is home grown and tested, and as Amber grew older we continued to research so we could help others with the ideal sleep-training clock.

“The Sleepy Starz Sleep Clock features a 15 minute countdown timer, to prepare your child for bed 15 minutes before you actually need them to sleep and it even features a nightlight function.

“We are just proud to offer a companion for all parents out there because we know from experience how tough it can be, mentally and physically.”

The Sleepy Starz Sleep Clock is now available online via the Sleepy Starz website and will be available through stockists later in the year.    The retail price is $129.95 however the price has been reduced to $99.95 for a limited time as part of the clock’s launch celebrations throughout April 2017.
