FOUNDER OF GLOBAL TOOL BRAND BRINGS ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR TO AUSTRALIA

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the iconic tool brand, Leatherman, and to mark the milestone Founder Tim Leatherman is undertaking a global tour spanning across the USA, UK, and Canada – just to name a few. In exciting news for locals, Australia will be the final leg of the tour, with Tim Leatherman arriving in November to host a range of events, share his inspirational story and connect with as many fans as possible.

The Leatherman brand has come a long way since it was born in 1975, when recent engineering graduate Tim Leatherman and his wife Chau set off on a road trip throughout Europe. Along the way, the unreliable Fiat the newlyweds had purchased for $300 required multiple roadside fixes. Tim had the right know-how, but not the right tools to fix it. He returned home with an idea for a multi-tool to tackle life’s unexpected challenges and asked his wife if she could support the family while he pursued his idea, thinking it would take him a month to develop a prototype.

After eight years of toiling in his garage and multiple rejections, the Pocket Survival Tool (PST) was born. In their first year of business, Tim and his co-founder hoped to sell 4,000 tools; instead, they sold 30,000. And over the next decade, they would sell over one million PST multi-tools.

The Australian leg of the roadshow –  which will visit Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane – will be a chance for Leatherman enthusiasts to participate in a range of unique Leatherman experiences. From interacting with a range of DIY stations to making customized items to take home, viewing a gallery of the brand’s history including etchings, product prototypes and rejection letters, to meeting Tim and having him engrave your tool, this tour truly has something memorable for everyone.

The tour stops will also be an exclusive opportunity to purchase one of the Limited-Edition PST tools, which was created to further commemorate the brand’s 35th Anniversary, Leatherman is continuing Tim’s legacy of unwavering perseverance, ingenious design, and commitment to quality with the revival of the Limited-Edition PST. At $349 The Limited-Edition PST is made of 100% stainless steel and has 14 tools in one including: Pliers, Wire Cutters, Hard-wire Cutters, 420HC Knife, Wood/Metal File, Screwdrivers, Ruler, Can Opener and Bottle Opener.

Evan Blake, Brand Manager of Leatherman Australia says, “We’re honoured that this iconic tour will be coming to its completion here. Australians have been such huge supporters of the brand, and the fact that Tim is cramming so much into his time here is a true testament to how much he appreciates that. We’re hoping you can join us at our events, with each stop offering a top-quality experience for everyone.”
