Sydney is set for a bumper weekend of events with the Bledisloe Cup, Netball World Cup and Good Food and Wine Show taking centre stage at Sydney Olympic Park.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said the weekend would attract thousands of domestic and international visitors, and provide a major boost to the NSW visitor economy.
Saturday will see the Wallabies take on the All Blacks at ANZ Stadium for the Bledisloe Cup, while the trans-Tasman rivalry continues the following day, with the Diamonds playing the Black Ferns at Allphones Arena in the round robin stage of the Netball World Cup.
The Good Food and Wine Show is also taking place over the weekend at Sydney Olympic Park showcasing hundreds of local and international exhibitors, celebrity chefs and live cooking.
“Sydney is once again proving its reputation for securing some of the world's most prestigious sporting and cultural events,” Mr Ayres said.
“The Bledisloe Cup and Netball World Cup have been secured by the NSW Government through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, and will attract thousands of visitors from around Australia and the world to our State.”
To date in 2015, the NSW Government has already secured and supported a range of major sporting events including the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the AFC Asian Cup, State of Origin and visits by major English Premier League football clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
The August bumper weekend will lead into a packed Spring and Summer Events Calendar including the Sydney Running Festival, NRL Grand Final, Australian Open of Golf, AUS-X Open Supercross and V8 Supercars Sydney 500.
