The 1st Annual Periscope Community Summit Was a Smash Hit.

Live streamers from all around the globe came to The Big Apple for the first ever New York Scope Week in Sept. This was also the first ever user-generated conference for and by Periscope users, hosted by Periscope Community Summit.

New York - (Oct 17, 2015) – Scopers from all over the world came together not knowing what to expect from this first ever user generated conference all about the app Periscope. As attendees arrived at the host venue, greetings were exchanged as if everyone were old friends from high school. Many stated that the conference felt like one large reunion. The reason for this can be found in the fact that authenticity and personality show clearly in an app such as Periscope. From the initial greetings to the activities, keynotes, panel discussions, and networking, the event continued to exceed the expectations of the attendees.

In its inaugural year, Scopers came from places like Australia, the UK, and numerous states within the US that truly made this a global event. Attendees were able to hear from 40 speakers, 7 keynotes, participate in a 5K run in Central Park, partake in a 2 hour meditation activity, and attend several parties that accompanied the conference throughout the city. There was even a roundtable discussion that took place with Al Roker from the Today Show and Roker Labs. This panel kicked off the conference with a discussion on the impact of mobile livestreaming apps with leading Periscopers.

This conference truly fostered educational growth in the realm of social media and livestreaming. Attendees left with insight on how some of the top scopers planned their content to scope about, determined what additional tools others purchased to enhance their scopes, the latest social media statistics, announcements of new updates to Katch before the information went out to the general public, and so much more. Cathy Hackl, Director of Periscope Community Summit, stated, “It has been a long time since I have seen this much excitement surrounding a new social media platform.  We were honored to provide an outlet to bring the Periscope community together in real life.”

One of the highlights of the event was that the speakers stayed around to attend other sessions and mingle with the attendees.  Brian Fanzo, change evangelist known as @iSocialFanz, stated, “Periscope Community Summit was an amazing success and it had little to do with the app or the technology or any one person. I feel that the organizers did an amazing job of listening and empowering the community to do what the community does best and that's celebrate each other and embrace that we are all different ages, races, sexes, industries and backgrounds but together we can come together to make a difference. IMO this is the best inaugural event I've ever attend!”

Periscope, the social networking app that allows users to stream live video to the world, has only been around for a few months, but already more than a million users have jumped on board. They’ve blasted hearts, watched celebrities drive their cars and made new friends. Ryan A. Bell, founder of Periscope Community Summit, stated, “We’re beside ourselves at how much has been accomplished in such a short time, with the blessing of Periscope and with the talent of the community. We cannot wait to see everyone again at the January Periscope Community Summit. We know that it will be even better than the first event.”

Bell adds that the event became a celebration that was a mixture of high school reunion, social media, live music concert and summer camp. “When Cathy and I found out that our event trended on Twitter during the Pope's visit we began to recognize that Summit was something extremely special.”
