For Denver area residents, there’s a new, easy, comfortable and affordable way to get to Glenwood Springs. Instead of driving, hop aboard Bustang, the state’s new bus service for a relaxing and hassle-free ride to Colorado’s favorite mineral hot springs town.Bustang is the new bus service recently launched by Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). It was created to offer more travel choices and to help alleviate congestion on Colorado’s main transportation corridors. Bustang currently operates Monday – Friday only. “Glenwood Springs is an ideal destination for Bustang because you don’t need a car to enjoy the town” said Lisa Langer, vice-president of tourism marketing for the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association. “In fact, when visitors arrive here via Bustang, they can easily walk or connect with our local bus service to access Glenwood Springs’ lodging, dining and attractions.” A weekend itinerary for a Denver resident could start by boarding Bustang at Union Station at 6:15 p.m. on a Thursday evening, arriving in Glenwood Springs at 9:45 p.m. A three-day, car-free stay could easily include the Iron Mountain Hot Springs or Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, biking in Glenwood Canyon, rafting the Colorado, dining al fresco in downtown Glenwood Springs and seeing a Vaudeville comedy show. On Monday morning, catch the 7:05 a.m. Bustang to head back home, with arrival into Denver’s Union Station at 10:35 a.m. For the $28 one-way fare, riders receive much more than a seat on a bus. Bustang offers riders the latest commuter amenities including Wi-fi, bathrooms, bike racks, 110 volt outlets, and USB charging stations. Find out more about Bustang including schedules and ticketing here.
