The Lander Art Center Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Margaret Rattenbury as the new executive director of the Lander Art Center, beginning in July 2015. Ms. Rattenbury is returning to Lander after leaving in 2002 to teach music, performing arts and general education in Wyoming public schools. She has collaborated with University of Wyoming professors to integrate science and arts in unique stage performances (UWYO Magazine, Winter 2007) and presented at conferences including the Wyoming Department of Education Summer Camp and WyTECC (Wyoming Technology-Engagement-Curriculum Connection) Conference.

Ms. Rattenbury has worked in nonprofit development and public relations, including the Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe (Fort Washakie, WY) and Chicago Access Corporation/CAN TV (Chicago, IL), where she wrote grants establishing an endowment fund and trained Chicago's diverse nonprofit community to use television technology for public relations and community outreach. She has also worked on Wyoming Public Television productions and the TK Enterprises (Laramie, WY) “Coaches” show highlighting UW athletics. Ms. Rattenbury has received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College, Chicago, and a Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, both from the University of Wyoming.

As Executive Director, Ms. Rattenbury will be responsible for the daily operation of the Lander Art Center including the education and exhibition programming, professional artist development programming, community outreach, and financial management. Her leadership and vision will guide the implementation the Lander Art Center’s strategic goals. "The Lander Art Center is poised to serve our community in Fremont County and the state at large in great ways, due to the vision and hard work of previous leaders,” noted Rattenbury. “I am excited to join such a forward thinking group of people.”

The Lander Art Center is a leader in Fremont County’s art community. The Lander Art Center provides access to art through education programming including over 80 classes and workshops per year in a variety of visual arts including drawing, painting, pastels, jewelry, ceramics, sculpting, printmaking and related techniques, and fiber arts for preschool, youth, and adults. The Lander Art Center annually hosts between 8-12 art exhibitions of regional, national and international artists that include three to five juried exhibitions in amateur to professional categories.
