Tagliani laps the field at Sunset
INNISFIL, Ontario (June 23, 2015) – Alex Tagliani became the first driver to lap the field in a NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race in nine seasons on his way to winning the Leland Industries 300 at Sunset Speedway. Tagliani started fourth and led only once, but he headed the field over the final 193 laps of the 300-lap test around Sunset’s .333-mile oval. Tagliani and every other starter raced on Goodyear Eagle bias-ply racing tires. Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the series. The same line of Eagles that Goodyear manufactures in Akron, Ohio for the Canadian Series is also supplied to NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series East and K&N Pro Series West. It is extremely rare for a driver to lap the field in the tightly competitive world of NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and K&N Pro Series racing. Jason Hathaway finished second at Sunset after starting ninth. Cayden Lepcevich took third, followed by Scott Steckly and J.F. Dumoulin. Gary Klutt started on the pole, credited with a 14.758-second lap around the Sunset venue. Tagliani averaged 68.542 mph for the race distance. The race was completed with only two caution periods for a total of 21 laps. Goodyear employs about 69,000 people at manufacturing plants and facilities in 22 nations. Based in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear is among the largest tiremakers in the world and is the worldwide leader in race tire innovation.
